Feedback #2
Detailed feedback is always welcome.
First and foremost, I want to thank my TA for taking the time TA (even if it is what you need to do) with passion, excitement and curiosity with our content and writing this detailed review and analysis of my site and the overpraise. There is a lot to learn and still work with on this site, but some of it does take time.
It is definitely important to note the grammar, spelling mistakes, minor inconsistencies or word use in a text-based content site. Those particular details are just as crucial in any feedback.
A personal anecdote, I noticed on the Skytrain headlines that zip by on the bottom of the TV screen at the stations for a SPLIT second, they wrote “transLink” and I saw it right away.
So certainly, keeping an eye on this particular area is essential (although it is minor as you mentioned, which will only warrant an once-in-a-while full site proofread).

One Slice
This is an tricky part of the project where you have a longer vision, but the beginning cannot fully reflect that. The slices were intended to categorize ‘segments’ of my content chronologically as it appears. I may change it to “first slice” as a more intuitive label as a solution, but I will need to sift through the posts. It does make sense that from this current perspective, it is not completely apparent to a new visitor what one slice is. 😄
PUB 101
I think this particular feedback has a fair point: if anything under posiel tag isn’t under PUB 101 tag. I have especially noticed some redundancies during my tagging process as well. Sometimes I forget to include the PUB 101 tag
I think the main reason why I have kept this tag around is because “posiel” isn’t explicit of what it means compared to PUB 101. However, that begs the question if PUB 101 is any better than posiel. For all the record, it could be about pubs than anything else.
A solution to these is to have a legend of what each tags are about. However, they already do serve their purpose in linking the content to what they really are part of: Publishing 101 course and Posiel tag for archival tracing.
Overall, these were the main highlights of the feedback that requires addressing. I will consider and make subtle changes where needed in the upcoming days.
Process Prompt
A plan I can implement in transmedia integration is to consider what matches my content, tone, style and voice. At the same time, I would need to consider capacity of handling that particular media.
I can expand my content to platforms such as Instagram and YouTube.
- Instagram can be a meaningful way to engage through story content and posts.
- YouTube would provide other means of engagement and content, but would be on a less frequent basis. This would not only means having another form of media, but also enabling diversification of my online publication of self.
Characteristics of my Plan for Transmedia content
In this blogpost, they state that “we could pick up the trading card game tonight and learn to play without any knowledge of the TV show or games and still have a great time.” I think this quote captures the essence of what they are trying to convey. In my own transmedia content, my interpretation of their post about Pokemon is unique and important to consider.
Even if my content is related, connected, and relevant stylistically to the topics, I still need to consider the audiences. The form it takes also dictates how my content is being engaged and created by myself. I must consider a wider audience and allow space for visitors to “pick up” and not be lost. This is an important characteristic of my transmedia integration of my online publication to consider.
Communities Made, Communities Talking
While having more transmedia presence for my online publication allows for better means of communication and sharing, there is another reason that having more transmedia integration can allow.
As Renninger (2014) research analysis explores and goes at-depth with “hav[ing] developed a theory of counterpublic communication on SNSs that explains how the politics and affordances of platforms may encourage, tolerate, or prioritize counterpublic address on their platform.”
The author explored the social practices and affordances of the digital platform of asexuals, Tumblr, in the communities and counterpublics that are formed.
Therefore, by having more transmedia options can have an important role in creating counterpublics where communities can engage in.
